Elaine Laurence is the founding Principal of Laurence Associates. She focuses in the areas of technology, data, outsourcing, intellectual property, e-commerce, privacy, data protection and corporate services. Elaine has significant expertise in handling intellectual property, technology and multi-jurisdictional transaction issues facing financial services institutions of all sizes. Prior to forming Laurence Associates, Elaine spent two years at Clifford Chance, as a Partner in the intellectual property group. She focused on the global development of the business transactions aspect of the firm’s intellectual property practice. Elaine spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as Vice President, Associate General Counsel, and Legal Director for Technology, Intellectual Property and Contracts. In this capacity, she had worldwide responsibility for all technology, intellectual property and contract matters within the firm. She managed a staff of approximately 30 professionals and paraprofessionals located in America, Europe and Asia who supported over 20,000 employees and operations in all major markets throughout the world. Elaine spent 4 years at Automatic Data Processing where she had full responsibility for the legal matters of their Financial Services Group. Elaine is former Chair of the Securities Industry Association's Technology and Regulatory Committee and is joint founder of CLIPR (Computer Law and Intellectual Property Roundtable), a group of in-house technology and intellectual property lawyers for the financial community. She received a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a BA from City University of New York and is admitted to practice in New York State.
