Randi Susan Klein

I grew up in Los Angeles, CA. At a young age, I relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I attended college and law school. I earned a BA in Political Science from San Francisco State University; and a JD from Golden Gate School of Law. I clerked for the California Supreme Court and the Attorney Generals office when I was in law school.

I am admitted to the Bar in California, Hawaii, and Washington D.C. I am inactive in Hawaii and D.C. I am an active member of the Caifornia Bar, and have been practicing in California since I was admitted in 1991.

I spent my first eight (8) years of practice in the San Francisco Bary Area. I represented people in criminal and civil matters. The civil portion of my practice included personal bankruptcy, landlord/tenant, juvenile dependency and family law. The primary focus of my practice was on dependency and family law.

Dependency law involves matters in which children have been temporarily removed from the custody of their parents due to allegations of abuse and neglect.  Often times the parents are incarcerated or drug addicted, and unable to care for their children. The children are placed in foster care or with suitable relatives while their parents go through rehabilitation. The decision where to place the children during this interim period is crucial. It is often determinative of whether they will ultimately reunite with their biological parents, remain in long term foster care, be placed with legal guardians, or be adopted. I have represented parties from all perspectives, including parents, foster-adopt parents, legal guardians and children. Hence, I understand dependency proceedings from all points of view.

My background in dependency matters has translated well into my current family law practice, particularly with respect to matters that involve complicated custody disputes. It has given me a perspective that other family law practitioners do not possess.

I returned to Southern California in May 1999, and moved my practice to downtown Los Angeles. I have been practicing in counties throughout Southern California since that time. The focus of my current practice is on family law and civil litigation. My family law practice includes divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, paternity, domestic violence and guardianships.
