Zohra works across the fields of international humanitarian law, refugee and immigration law, and human rights. Zohra approaches her files with a strong client-focus and the belief that no case is too small to make a difference. She is effective at what she does and works diligently to secure the best outcome for her clients.
Zohra has successfully represented clients before the Federal Court of Canada, Social Justice Tribunals of Ontario, and various divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board. She previously worked at a renowned boutique law firm in Toronto where her practice encompassed a mixture of corporate immigration, protected persons litigation, and judicial reviews arising out of inadmissibility on grounds of serious criminality, misrepresentation, and war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Zohra completed her Articles of Clerkship with Legal Aid Ontario in social justice areas of criminal law, family law, refugee law, and landlord and tenant law. Before qualifying as a lawyer, she worked in community service, education, and management information system in Canada, the United States, and Afghanistan, respectively. She holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law (Canada), and a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College (United States). Zohra has also studied International Peace and Conflict Resolution at the Washington D.C. Program of the American University (United States).
Zohra is committed to equal justice for all and has a particular interest in the rights of refugees and of vulnerable children and youth. She also retains a keen interest in public international law, procedural justice, and access to information. Zohra is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and she speaks English, Pashto, Dari (Farsi), Urdu and Arabic (limited proficiency).
