Lonn Weissblum has litigated matters in all three federal district courts in Florida and in several judicial circuits throughout Florida. In addition, he has handled appeals in both state and federal court. Prior to opening his own practice, Lonn was a litigation associate at a law firm in Boca Raton, Florida where he concentrated his practice in representing corporate clients in life and disability insurance litigation matters, most of which were governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ('ERISA'). During this time, Lonn gained substantial federal trial court experience, and worked on both state and federal court appeals. Before entering private practice, Lonn served a three year appellate judicial clerkship with the Honorable David L. Levy of the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami, Florida. In that capacity, he worked on an array of civil and criminal cases involving both state and federal law. Lonn is an active member of the Florida Bar and the District of Columbia Bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Lonn is an honors graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He was the Executive Student Works Editor of the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy and served as a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy courses. Lonn also spent two semesters studying law abroad at Lund University in Sweden and Leiden University in the Netherlands. He earned his bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Lonn published two of his works in scholarly law journals. He published Incitement to Violence on the World Wide Web: Can Web Publishers Seek First Amendment Refuge? in the University of Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review. He subsequently published an article entitled A Modest Proposal for Classifying Lost Punitive Damages in a Legal Malpractice Case: Look to the Deceased Tortfeasor for Guidance in the University of Alabama's Journal of the Legal Profession.
