Travis Williamson has been effectively defending individuals accused of committing crimes for nearly 25 years. Mr. Williamson is dedicated to the exclusive practice of criminal defense, having never worked for a prosecuting agency in his entire career.

Travis Williamson began his career defending people who had been sued for money in civil court and by hard work and reputation he built up a practice that included defending doctors and dentists accused of malpractice. As part of his representation of medical providers he branched out into defending them in administrative hearings before medical review boards which led to representing a couple of clients in criminal matters involving allegations of "white collar crime." Having derived a great deal of satisfaction and success from his representation of clients in these initial criminal matters, Mr. Williamson has come to practice almost exclusively in the areas of criminal defense, representing police officers in administrative disciplinary hearings, and the representation of medical professionals before review panels.

Defending medical professionals required Mr. Williamson to devote countless hours of study and research about medicine and science. Preparing for these medical malpractice cases sparked a lifelong interest in him about science and medicine that has resulted in his having a great deal of expertise in these areas. This has served his clients well in the defense of DWI cases (where such expertise is essential) along with dealing with forensics and expert testimony in general criminal matters.

With regard to the firm’s criminal defense practice, a keen emphasis is placed on the defense of driving while intoxicated cases (DWI), including the most serious offenses involving allegations of intoxication: felony DWI, intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter. Mr. Williamson and his firm have handled hundreds of these cases in the central Texas area, including numerous jury trials. In terms of general criminal defense, Mr. Williamson has handled almost every type of case imaginable, from defending a student arrested for protesting, to high profile cases such as securing an acquittal of a local police officer charged with homicide.

No case is too big or two small for the firm, and each case is treated the same way, regardless of whether it is a drug case, family violence, a DWI or murder. We believe that proper representation begins with a firm understanding of the client’s concerns, needs and desires. Nothing serves a client better than obtaining the result they hope to achieve. An open line of communication must be kept with the client. This allows the client to be informed and understand what is happening with his/her case.

Travis Williamson and his associate, Michelle M. Galaviz, believe in taking action. They take a very proactive approach when clients are accused of a crime. They understand that police agencies often only gather evidence in support of their case against the accused. They frequently work in a team approach on cases in an attempt to "leave no stone unturned" in the vigorous defense of their clients. This aggressive approach has led to numerous favorable results including cases being dismissed and, in some instances, not being filed at all.

Mr. Williamson and Ms. Galaviz’s experience in criminal defense in Austin have enabled them to establish relationships with judges, prosecutors, probation officers and police detectives throughout all Central Texas counties.

They also understand that, in order to be successful, a criminal defense lawyer must understand all the players involved. What works in one court may not work in another. There may be a need for flexibility in order to adapt to a particular jurisdiction.

Travis Williamson and Michelle M. Galaviz understand what it means to defend your rights and are committed to achieving the result that you deserve.
