Frequently, our clients’ interests extend to properties and transactions outside of the United States, giving us a growing international presence. With experienced, practical attorneys accustomed to addressing all aspects of today’s complicated real estate transactions, we have a unique capacity to handle sophisticated acquisitions, dispositions, development and financing transactions. Our real estate attorneys often work in concert with our land use, corporate and tax attorneys, providing our clients with seamless expertise, beginning with the conceptualization of a proposed acquisition and financing, and continuing beyond closing through each phase of development (or re-development), leasing, and, eventually, sale and/or refinancing of the completed project. We assist in creating and implementing ownership and financing structures. In addition, our attorneys provide extensive knowledge and experience in negotiating and documenting the transfers of development rights, federal, state and local tax abatements and other incentives We believe that we are one of the few remaining “mid-size” law firms that continue to provide a broad-based yet focused expertise in all areas of sophisticated real estate transactions. Although the Real Estate Department has steadily grown since its inception, our strength consists not so much in the number of people we can assign to any given transaction as it does in the particular strengths and expertise of each of our attorneys.
