Juanici (Nicie) Garcia Pratt

Nicie worked in the healthcare industry for 12 years prior to graduating from law school where she gained extensive experience in healthcare operations, finance and compliance. After law school, Nicie served as in-house Assistant General Counsel for a multi-billion dollar health system where she supported the Texas & New Mexico region consisting of 5,000+ employees, five hospitals, a large physician medical group, surgery center, imaging center, laboratory, health insurance company, ACO/clinical integration group and health information exchange. She supported the Board of Directors and served as a member of the executive management team. Nicie also has business transaction experience such as formation of entities, partnerships, joint ventures, practice acquisitions, etc.; which also includes an understanding of related State and Federal antitrust matters. She has worked extensively on medical staff matters including support of medical staff committees, bylaws, peer review and hearings. She can assist with certain general liability and patient risk management matters as well as property management and landlord-tenant issues. She has extensive expertise in a broad spectrum of health law matters such as bioethics, consent-to-treat, HIPAA privacy & security, Medicare & Medicaid billing, EMTALA, STARK, anti-kickback, self-disclosure protocol, Joint Commission regulations, CMS & State survey support, licensing, managed care contracts and general compliance matters. Nicie also teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Texas Tech University School of Law.
