As a respected attorney with over 40 years of experience in courtrooms across Texas, Gerry Goldstein confidently serves clients facing a wide range of criminal charges. Among the number of high profile cases that he has participated in, during CNN v. Manuel Noriega (1990), he argued against network broadcasting of government tapes of Noriega’s conversations with his attorneys, defending the right to privacy between attorneys and clients. He has testified before Congress and taken on challenging appeals cases, including winning justice for wrongful convictions. Through his years of service at Goldstein & Orr, he has tackled a variety of cases, including federal offenses, drug crimes, family violence, marijuana charges and more.
Gerry Goldstein has received numerous awards and honors recognizing his dedication to criminal defense. These include being named a Texas Super Lawyer for 10 years, as well as being listed as a Texas Legal Legend by the State Bar of Texas' Litigation Council. He was inducted in to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Hall of Fame in 2002 and was recognized as one of the Top Ten Lawyers by Scene in SA Monthly.
As a passionate participant in the field of criminal defense, Gerry Goldstein has held numerous leadership positions in respected organizations. He serves as the current co-chair for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. In past years, he has been named the President of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Bar Association, and a Faculty member of the National Criminal Defense College.
Before being recognized as one of the most respected attorneys in Texas, Gerry earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin. He became licensed to practice law in 1968 and eagerly devoted himself to his field as a member of Goldstein, Goldstein & Hilley. He is now licensed to appear before state courts in both Texas and Colorado, as well as the Western District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
