Matthew Meyer
Meyer Van Severen, S.C.
As a co-founder of Meyer Van Severen, S.C., Matthew R. Meyer is dedicated to serving clients throughout southeastern Wisconsin. He focuses his practice on criminal law, handling cases ranging from municipal violations to homicide, sexual assault, firearm cases, and drug cases. Mr. Meyer also regularly defends individuals accused of drunk driving.
In 2008, Mr. Meyer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He then went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 2012 from Marquette University Law School. While attending law school Mr. Meyer gained valuable experience serving as an intern with the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office Trial Division, and by volunteering his time with the Marquette University Law School Small Claims Mediation Clinic and the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic.
An aggressive advocate for his clients, Mr. Meyer fights to ensure their rights are upheld. He understands the life-changing impact that allegations of criminal offenses can have on people and their families. For that reason, Mr. Meyer strives to help his clients tell their side of the story and to achieve the best possible outcome to their legal issues. Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Meyer is active in the legal community. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for DUI Defense, Inc., the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association.
