Todd D. Mayo is a director in the law firm of Cleveland, Waters and Bass, P.A., where his practice focuses on federal and state tax planning for individuals, privately-held companies, and tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Mayo’s practice includes advising landowners and land trusts on conservation easements and other land conservation strategies. He frequently speaks on tax, charitable giving, and related legal issues. His articles have appeared in Tax Notes, Exempt Organizations Tax Review, New Hampshire Bar News, and other publications. In addition, Mr. Mayo is an author for the New Hampshire State Tax Service Practice Insights (LexisNexis), and he wrote “A Holistic Examination of the Law of Conservation Easements,” in Protecting the Land: Conservation Easements Past, Present, and Future (Island Press, 2000). He is a member of the American Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, New Hampshire Bar Association, and New Hampshire Estate Planning Council, and he serves as the list manager for Tax-Nonprofit, a discussion group sponsored by the ABA Section of Taxation. Mr. Mayo earned a B.A. degree in economics and history from Georgetown University, a J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law. He is a member of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts bars.
