While at the law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, Mr. Nastasi represented many of the major players in New York real estate, including Tishman Speyer, Macklowe Properties, RFR Realty, Vornado Realty Trust and Forest City Ratner.
After Fried Frank, Mr. Nastasi served as in-house counsel for the real estate group of the Lehman Brothers estate, where he restructured over 3 billion dollars in real estate debt and equity investments.
During his time at Fried Frank, Mr. Nastasi worked on the purchase of the MetLife building by Tishman Speyer for $1.72 billion, the world’s largest single-asset real estate acquisition at the time. Mr. Nastasi also played a key role in the sale of the Verizon headquarters to EOP, including drafting and negotiating the complex commercial condominium declaration that allowed Verizon to complete the sale and still continue operations in portions of the building.
In addition to these two high profile transactions, Mr. Nastasi worked on the Atlantic Yards project for Forest City Ratner, the refinancing of Two Penn Plaza for Vornado, the purchase, financing and entitlement of 610 Lexington for RFR Realty and closed over 2.5 billion dollars in other commercial real estate transactions while at Fried Frank.
During Mr. Nastasi’s tenure as counsel for the asset management team charged with working out the multi-billion dollar real estate portfolio of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate, he devised and implemented strategies and solutions to a broad array of disputes, defaults and remedy enforcement scenarios. Mr. Nastasi has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating and executing all manner of real estate workout solutions, including foreclosures, deeds-in-lieu, discounted payoffs and short sales, loan modifications and restructuring, asset-level bankruptcies, partnership disputes, lender liability suits, and asset rehabilitation and disposition.
