The Law Office of Raymond A. Kenney, PLLC

Raymond A. Kenneyis the founding member of the firm. He has been licensed to practice law since 1987. Mr. Kenney is an experienced Arizona attorney who has established a reputation for providing practical solutions for his clients' legal issues. As an Arizona and New Jersey lawyer, Mr. Kenney has passionately represented clients in a variety of legal areas in both the state of Arizona as well as the state of New Jersey. He has in the past, worked for moderately large sized law firms and is therefore aware of the cold impersonal service they can provide to their clients. In addition, Mr. Kenney has worked for smaller law firms and has always been impressed by the highly individualized personal service that the smaller law firm can provide to its clients. By establishing the Law Firm of Raymond A. Kenney, PLLC, Mr. Kenney is dedicated to getting to know his client’s full legal and personal situation so that by working as a team, Ray and the client, can fully access the client’s legal issues and only then craft the best approach to dealing with the legal matter at hand.

In addition to his law firm experience Mr. Kenney has a full year of judicial law clerk experience. Mr. Kenney has the benefit of practicing law in Arizona and New Jersey. He has successfully handled numerous court hearings – hearings in front of State Superior Court and Federal Court judges. Ray is experienced in all phases of civil practice including divorce and custody proceedings, the drafting of all manner of business documents and the litigation of business disputes. Mr. Kenney works with individuals regarding their financial issues including the filing of their bankruptcy case if the situation warrants a filing. Ray drafts wills and trusts and handles the probating of estates. Clients consult with Mr. Kenney regarding real estate matters and in this economic environment an increasing number of clients are concerned with how they can keep their homes in a declining real estate market as well as various landlord/tenant issues.

Mr. Kenney’s forte is estate planning and business law. He enjoys working with clients to plan for the future, but “helping them out of a jam when needed.”

Mr. Kenney has prevailed over some tough competition, including several of the largest and most well established law firms in Arizona. As one example of the success of Mr. Kenney’s efforts, he recently saved a client over $328,000.00. To do so, Mr. Kenney litigated against one of the best attorneys in California. He substituted for another attorney late in the case and came up to speed in less than a week. This is typical of the results that the Law Firm of Raymond A. Kenney, PLLC endeavors to provide to its clients.

Mr. Kenney obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in 1987 from the prestigious Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. Seton Hall is recognized as one of the finest law schools in the country. Mr. Kenney received the Chicago Title Award for obtaining the highest grade in Real Property. Mr. Kenney graduated magna cum laude from Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Seton Hall School of Law. While attending law school, Mr. Kenney worked as a law clerk for both a New Jersey law firm and for AT&T. Upon his graduation from law school he spent a year as judicial clerk for the Assignment Judge of Hudson County New Jersey.

Among other things, the National Jurist magazine ranked Seton Hall second in judicial clerkship placement among the nation's ABA-approved law schools. By placing its graduates in positions as judicial clerks, Seton Hall provides its law school graduates with an invaluable opportunity to experience the inner workings of our court systems.

Mr. Kenney is proud to have been chosen to serve as a Superior Court Judicial Clerk. In 1987 and 1988, Mr. Kenney served as the judicial clerk for the Honorable Burrell Ives Humphreys, Assignment Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court. As Judge Humphrey’s law clerk, Mr. Kenney experienced the inner workings of the court system in the way that only an insider can. He performed legal research and assisted the judge with the drafting of his legal opinions. Mr. Kenney also observed numerous court presentations by attorneys and the judge’s reaction to them – observations with obvious practical benefits to this firm’s clients.

Mr. Kenney earned his undergraduate degree from Montclair State University. He is admitted to the state and federal courts in Arizona and New Jersey.

In the past, Ray has also worked in the private sector as a financial advisor for a major Wall Street firm and in the public sector as a teacher and program administrator for Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The knowledge obtained by his broad employment background combined with his legal acumen provides the clients of the Law Firm of Raymond A. Kenney, PLLC with the winning edge needed when faced with difficult legal issues.

Ray enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and extended family and his Chihuahua puppy, Coco. A former marathon runner, Ray and his family enjoy hiking, biking and swimming.
