California Welfare And Institutions Code Section 1703

Commencing July 1, 2005, as used in this chapter the following terms have the following meanings: (a) Public offenses means public offenses as that term is defined in the Penal Code. (b) Court includes any official authorized to impose sentence for a public offense. (c) Youth Authority, Authority, authority, or division means the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Facilities. (d) Board or board means the Board of Parole Hearings, until January 1, 2007, at which time board shall refer to the body created to hear juvenile parole matters under the jurisdiction of the Chief Deputy Secretary for Juvenile Justice in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. (e) The masculine pronoun includes the feminine.
