The Law Office of Carol Ryder, PC

This firm was established to provide quality representation to Long Islanders at a reasonable price. I also have a philosophy that comes from being on the other side of the legal desk for many years. Thus, I want to give clients everything I wished I had before I was an attorney, when I was a Wall Streeter, homeowner, commuter, animal rescuer and member of a family that had to deal with death, disability issues, etc. I always wanted to be an attorney, since I was five, but I also enjoy the complexities of finances. Then, I would hear over and over again (not just from family and friends, although they repeatedly said the same things a different person telling me " You really should do it" (meaning law schol) or "You would be such a great lawyer" . Then I kept thinking: "I wish I was an attorney now so I could better handle this issue" or "I could do so much more for this [underdog] as an attorney" (usually came up with underdogs-usually older folks, animals, domestic violence victims, including kids, and the disabled). So, finally, with extremely  careful financial and personal planning (the financial mind and the legal mind joined together), I did it.

I worked for many years on Wall Street and have an extensive financial background. I also did much volunteer work as an animal rescuer and at elder facilities (usually Pet Therapy). I saw so much I wish I could fix, especially heartbreaking situations that could have been avoided if the person had good legal counsel. Thus, after law school, when I was ready to launch my own firm, I did. This way, I could provide the type of quality legal service every person needs, with a focus on top quality legal service, attention to detail, and knowing each client's case well.  I believe it is important for an attorney to be skilled at finance as well as being highly skilled at law because finances are an important consideration in every case. Moreover, by owning my own firm, if I have to work seven days a week until late, so be it, and I can structure my work life so that I am safe working late.

I also am firmly committed to service to the community. I do a great deal of pro bono work and conduct seminars to help people (and animals). This involvement with pro bono work, the bar association, and the community in turn benefits ALL my clients. I am in regular contact with judges and other attorneys, including highly experienced attorneys at the top of their field. Thus, I can call up an attorney practicing for decades to run legal ideas by. So, all my clients get expensive advice at a reasonable price.

Additionally, as mentioned above, I know what it is like to be on the other side of the legal desk. I have been successfully handling my own (and my husband's)  legal affairs for many years. Think about-someone commuting 140 miles round-trip is bound to be hit by unsafe drivers. I own and run a home, have family members ill, passing away, or becoming disabled. I know what it is like to NOT have calls returned, for an attorney to NOT know my case well (or at all), and/or to be greeted with a voice at the other end of the line who does not know who I am (let alone know my case well). That will never happen in my firm.

My clients also can have most of their legal needs taken care of in one place-wills, trusts, estates, estate planning, probate, Pet trusts, animal law, guardianships (both Articles 17A and 81), Medicaid planning, veteran's benefits, consumer issues (including consumer fraud and consumer abuse), foreclosure, Small Claims, litigation, including auto accidents, slips and falls, nursing home abuse and neglect, and other personal injury, divorce, mediation, including divorce mediation,  incorporation (S Corp, LLC, LLP, regular incorporation-whatever is best for the client), preparation of other protective documents (including contract preparation to use with the client's customer/tenants/sub-contractors, etc., leases-whatever we need to protect the client legally and personally), traffic tickets, and more. We are easy to get to-centrally located in Suffolk County, in Fort Salonga, right off the Sunken Meadow Parkway (between Kings Park and Northport), easy to get to from all over Long Island, including Nassau County. We can even work with clients by coming to meet them at a more convenient locale, for instance, nearby or on the way back from the courts in Mineola, Central Islip, Lindenhurst, Huntington, Riverhead, Patchogue, Hauppauge, Farmingdale, Garden City, Oyster Bay Cove, New Hyde Park, etc.
