MS. BASHAR obtained a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona College of Law in May 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona in 1987. She attended the M.B.A. program at National University with an emphasis in International Business in 1991 and 1992. She became a Certified Specialist in Family Law, as recognized the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in 2011.

Ms. Bashar joined the firm in 2003 after 7 years as a sole practitioner focusing on civil litigation, business and family law. Prior to opening her own office, she was an associate attorney in a civil litigation firm representing financial institutions as well as individuals with fraud, contract and personal injury matters.

Ms. Bashar was selected as a semi-finalist in the San Diego Daily Transcript’s Top Attorneys in San Diego County for 2009 and 2010. She is the recipient of the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services in 1998 and 2010 and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program’s Distinguished Service Award for 2010.

She was selected by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California as a voting member of FLEXCOM (Executive Committee of the Family Law section of the State Bar of California) for 2011 to 2014. She was the Chair of the San Diego County Regional Standing Committee for the State Bar of California from 2008 to 2010 and was responsible for analysis of family law legislation. She authored AB612 (2009) regarding psychological evaluations and was the co-author of SB1482 (2010) which was enacted into law as Family Code section 4326.

Ms. Bashar has spoken on family law issues including the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists 2009 Winter Seminar on Statutory Updates and has spoken on the legislative process at California Western School of Law in 2009. Ms. Bashar was selected as Assistant Editor to Family Law News, the official publication of the Family Law section of the State Bar of California. She authored an article on Charging Liens in the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialist Newsletter – Trials and Tribulations in 2005. She has volunteered as an attorney with the Family Law Access Project and was a volunteer research attorney with the San Diego Municipal Court. Ms. Bashar is a member of the State Bar of California, Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association.

Ms. Bashar is fluent in Farsi and maintains reasonable comprehension of French and Spanish.
