BROWN is a Family Law trial attorney.

Ms. Brown obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1994, where she received the 1994 Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a Minor in Spanish, from the University of California, Riverside in 1989. As a Rotary International Scholar, she studied Politics and French at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Ms. Brown was also an exchange student to London, England through the British Universities North American Club and worked as a legislative analyst and writer for the UC Federal Reporter in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Brown was admitted to the State Bar of California and the Federal District Court for the Southern District in 1994 and she became a Certified Specialist in Family Law in 2002.

Ms. Brown serves as a Judge Pro Tem for the San Diego Superior Court Family Law Division and is a member of the San Diego Certified Family Law Specialists mediation panel. Ms. Brown also serves as a Judge Pro Tem in Small Claims Court.

Ms. Brown is an Advisor for the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California, Family Law Section (FLEXCOM). Ms. Brown was an elected member and Affirmative Legislation Chair for FLEXCOM for three years, where she co-authored several family law bills that have been enacted into law. She has worked with members of the State legislature on family law bills and has testified before the California State legislature on family law bills. She has written several articles for the State Bar’s Family Law News and the family law E-Newsletter. Ms. Brown is also on the San Diego Regional Standing Committee for the State Bar of California, Family Law Section.

Ms. Brown is on the Board of Directors for the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, California Chapter (AFCC) where she serves on the membership committee and the 2012 AFCC Conference Committee. Ms. Brown also serves on the Legislative Advisory Committee for the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS).

Ms. Brown was an elected member of the Executive Committee of the San Diego County Certified Family Law Specialists (CFLS) for three years and is currently the Chair of the San Diego CFLS Legislative Committee and Rules Committee. Ms. Brown serves as a mentor for the San Diego County Bar Association for new family law attorneys. She was Chair of the Winter 2009 Certified Family Law Specialists Seminar and co-chair of the Spring 2007 and Summer 2009 Certified Family Law Specialists Seminars. Ms. Brown has been a speaker at Certified Family Law Specialists Seminars and has written articles for the Certified Family Law Specialists Newsletter.

As the Family Law Floor leader for the San Diego County Bar Association Conference of Delegates, Ms. Brown authored several proposed Family Law bills and has volunteered for the annual KNSD Ask-A-Lawyer program fielding questions on family law.

Ms. Brown is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (National and Local Chapters). Ms. Brown also serves on the Board of Directors for the North Park Community Association and the North Park Toyland Parade Committee.

Ms. Brown is conversant in Spanish and French.
