Matthew Legan Sanchez was born and raised in a neighborhood near you, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sanchez graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico, studying Business and Psychology, and was presented with the LLAVE Community Service Award for his commitment to community service in New Mexico. During his time on UNM Main Campus, Sanchez also worked on a scholarly research project with Derek Hamilton, Ph.D., in the Basic Medical Science Building of UNM’s Health Sciences Center. The study explored the role that nicotine plays on one's ability to process and retain new information.
Upon graduation, Sanchez entered Law school at UNM, achieving positions on both the Honor Roll and Dean's List, while serving as a research assistant for Sherri L. Burr -- a Professor at UNM that specializes in Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law. Sanchez lectured at several workshops in Santa Fe dealing with the legal issues that artists’ encounter with their films, photographs, music, and other intellectual and artistic endeavors, and won a position on the American Intellectual Property Moot Court Team based on a legal brief that he argued at competition. Sanchez also served as a co-host for the television show Arts Talk, interviewing a critically acclaimed author, as well as a Emmy award-winning director.
Sanchez’ legal experience includes serving as a legal clerk at The Branch Law Firm, as well as Sanchez, Mowrer & Desiderio, P.C. Sanchez has also served as an intern with the New Mexico Public Defenders.
Sanchez is presently a managing partner at The Family Law Firm, P.C., and is joined by Donna Trujillo-Dodd, Matthew Torres, and Cody O’brien, in his role as the operator of the Firm.
