Robert S. Balter is a very versatile tax attorney with broad and deep experience in planning for high and ultra high net worth clients, with special expertise in life insurance planning and fiduciary income taxes. He holds an LL.M. in Tax from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, graduated from University of Pennsylvania undergraduate and from Pitt Law, and has written about a dozen peer reviewed articles on estate planning issues for national law journals, one of which was cited in the Petition for Certiorari in Knight v. Commissioner, 552 US – (2008).
Mr. Balter is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and of the United States Tax Court. In 2008, Mr. Balter won a case in the United States Tax Court, fully vindicating his clients’ tax return positions without trial.
Mr. Balter served as a tax law specialist in IRS Chief Counsel's Office during the Reagan Administration and is a member of over 30 bar committees and groups. He has led American Bar Association comments projects on proposed regulations and has testified three times before the U.S. Treasury.
