James Ray

James M. Ray, II. is a trial attorney whose practice focuses on a wide variety of matters including complex civil litigation, catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, employee rights litigation, and civil rights disputes. Mr. Ray has served as lead counsel in more than 50 civil jury and bench trials throughout the District, Circuit, and Federal Courts in the State of Maryland. Mr. Ray also regularly represents individuals in front of the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission where he has appeared on behalf of injured workers for hundreds of hearings. In the employment area, Mr. Ray represents a diverse clientele, including whistleblowers pursuing claims under the False Claims Act and Government Contractors in Merit System Protection Board proceedings. Mr. Ray represents victims of discrimination and victims of wage theft and other wage and hour misconduct issues. Mr. Ray also regularly represents executives negotiating contracts or severance packages and corporations dealing with workplace compliance issues. Mr. Ray has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients through verdicts and settlements and has been named as one of the “Top 40 Lawyers under 40” for the State of Maryland in 2018, 2019, and recently for 2020 by the National Trial Lawyers. Mr. Ray was also recently selected by his peers to receive 2019, 2020, and 2021 “Rising Star” recognition in Maryland, and the 2021 “Rising Star” recognition in the District of Columbia by Super Lawyers.
