Allen R. Reed serves as Associate Counsel for Allstate Financial, Vice President, General Counsel & Assistant Secretary for Allstate Financial Services, LLC and Assistant Secretary for Allstate Financial Advisors, LLC. Mr. Reed has practiced as legal counsel for over 25 years primarily in the areas of registered products, EIAs, insurance product tax, broker-dealer and RIA compliance, structured settlements, and qualified ERISA plans.
Before joining Allstate Financial, he served as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel at Zurich Kemper Life, Director & Senior Counsel at CNA Financial, and as Assistant General Counsel at The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company.
Mr. Reed authored, Suitability & the Emperor’s New Clothes, appearing in the NTSAA Advisor, Fall 2000, and was Contributing Editor to Section 403(b) Loans, Distributions, Transfers & Rollovers (2001). He also served as Co-Chair for the Legal Section, National Structured Settlements Trade Association. Mr. Reed currently serves as Adjunct Faculty, Business Law Instructor, at Waubonsee College, and previously taught business law at Indiana University and Saint Francis College.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Indiana, United States District Courts, Northern & Southern Districts of Indiana, Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Reed is a member of the American, Illinois, and Indiana Bar Associations.
