Prior to founding Dressel/Malikschmitt, Chris served as a law clerk with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and then with the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Chris then served as an associate at a corporate law firm in New York City, handling a broad range of corporate and civil matters.  Following his time in “big law,” Chris served as an Assistant Prosecutor here in New Jersey, deepening his understanding of local practice and appearing on behalf of the State of New Jersey in Superior Court as well as before the Appellate Division.

Having represented large corporations and individuals in a variety of criminal and civil matters, Chris brings his varied and unique experience to bear on each and all of his matters.  Indeed, Chris is especially proud of his attention to detail, and dedication to crafting a custom-tailored approach to every difficult situation.  This ethos allows Chris to deliver an upscale legal experience at an enhanced value to the client.  Chris also believes that it is important to go the extra mile with his clients, walking them through each and every aspect of their case in order to best understand overall strategy, nuance of the process, and the potential risks and rewards that lie along the way.

Chris specifically favors an elegant approach to his law practice, believing that the client is best served through professionalism and preparation, not bluster or brute force. High-end experience, a bit of creativity and innovation, as well as maintaining a tight case strategy all combine to deliver results with consistent client satisfaction.

Chris enjoys the complexity and challenge of litigation, including class action disputes, business and commercial disagreements and labor and employment law.  Chris has also led numerous matters through commercial arbitration.  Chris’ experience also extends to digital currency, having handled numerous complex cryptocurrency matters, including in the courtroom.

Chris completed his undergraduate degree at Brown University and received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, graduating cum laude.  He has worked with, and learned from, top-tier peers and mentors while gaining valuable background on the different stages of criminal and civil litigation, including the appellate process.  He has been named to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Chris is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and continues to serve as a municipal prosecutor in New Jersey in addition to his practice at Dressel/Malikschmitt.  Indeed, Chris is proud to serve as the municipal prosecutor for the town in which he resides here in New Jersey.

Originally from Connecticut, Chris now proudly calls Central New Jersey home. Chris enjoys flying as a licensed pilot and is an automotive enthusiast.  When he’s not spending time with his wife and three young children, Chris enjoys history, as well as taking a break with a great short story, and loves to travel whenever he can.
