I provide Forensic Security Expert Witness services and security consulting to various clients. My expert witness testimony focuses primarily in the areas of standard of care, foreseeability, retail loss prevention and security guard negligence. My security consulting practice focuses primarily in the area of risk assessment, crime prevention and physical security planning and implementation.
Before commencing my practice I was Director of Loss Prevention Operations for the Eckerd Corporation, a 3000-store, $16B annual sales, retail pharmacy chain based in Largo, Florida. I was employed by Eckerd from 1989 to 2001. Prior to Eckerd I was a Security/Loss Prevention Manager with Sears for 10 years in the Houston metropolitan area. I served as a Police Officer for the City of Dallas, Texas from 1976 to 1979. After graduation from college in 1975 I was a private investigator and security guard supervisor. With the exception of 6 months, I have been in this industry since 1974.
I have served as an adjunct instructor for the Houston Police Department’s Police Academy where I developed and taught modules for their Crime Prevention Officer Certification program and also made presentations to their cadet classes regarding retail Loss Prevention and retail crime. I have lectured the Criminal Justice Departments at Sam Houston State University for Dr. Merlyn Moore, Huntsville, Texas and Florida State University for Dr. Richard Hollinger, Gainesville, Florida.
I am a contributing author to “Retail Crime, Security, and Loss Prevention. An Encyclopedic Reference”, by Charles A. Sennewald and John H. Christman, 2008. I have been interviewed by numerous news organizations, business organizations and trade journals as an authority on topics related to security, premises liability, and fraud.
I have extensive experience in the development and implementation of security and loss prevention training programs involving enterprise emergency planning, business continuity planning, internal investigations, safety and security, creation of Corporate Best Practices, and in the development of financial and operational policies, practices and procedures for over 25 years.
Over the years I have served on the Board of Directors of the Houston Retail Merchants Association, received my designation as a CPP, served on committees of various community organizations, and have coached more youth baseball and basketball teams than I can recall. I am a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do (attained at the age of 55) and am a volunteer instructor at a nearby school.
I take enormous pride in providing excellent customer service to my clients and always strive to exceed expectations. Visit my Linked In profile at: http://www.linkedin.com/in/lptsecurityconsulting
