Reitz Consulting, Ltd. solves problems using metallurgical and mechanical engineering, which provide a solid basis for opinions and testimony. Dr. Reitz worked as a Principal Engineer for 17 years in industry, taught metallurgy courses at North Dakota State University, founded a metallurgical consulting firm and continues to teach metallurgy and engineering courses part-time. Dr. Reitz is the owner / Principal and conducts all investigations. Overhead costs are minimized by using local services for expensive equipment, i.e., electron microscopy and radiography.
Additional expertise is readily available through association with university faculties to supplement the talents of Reitz Consulting. The company is uniquely located in Fargo, ND to readily serve the upper Midwest. Travel to other locales is easily accomplished and welcomed.
The owner / principal is seasoned with experience from a varied background. The pertinent industrial experience includes solving manufacturing and performance problems (corrosion, microstructure, diffusion bonding), performing failure analysis, participating in design teams and responsibility for material performance, examining microstructure and determining resulting effects on corrosion performance, and performing experiments characterizing materials at various process steps. A large portion of those years was interfacing with materials vendors, which developed specific communication skills in potentially adverse situations.
Teaching and performing research at the university has honed the theoretical background and deepened the level of knowledge in metallurgy and engineering. Teaching at university and short courses has brought the ability to relate difficult and complicated topics to the lay person in such a way that they can readily comprehend the subject.
