This is the Land of Opportunity. While we may be surrounded by obstacles, every obstacle carries the seed of opportunity, and every opportunity the promise of a better tomorrow: Timing Is Everything.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, have an LL.M. in Taxation, and am admitted to the New York and Florida State Bars. I set up appointments in-office and often travel to my client’s homes or businesses, but do not charge for travel time. My Practice primarily revolves around Tax Law in terms of wealth creation and preservation. On the wealth creation side of the coin, Business Law, I handle all matters in the Life Cycle of the Business from organization and formation, through growth and development, from taxable to non-recognition acquisition or divestiture transactions, to ultimate dissolution and winding down. On the wealth preservation side of the coin I practice Trusts and Estates Law drafting at all levels from the basic Will Package to the most complex tax/business sensitive Estate Plans incorporating family wealth succession planning. And where planning was inadequate, ignored, or absent altogether, I negotiate Tax Controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and or the New York and Florida State Taxing Authorities.
At the heart of wealth creation and preservation lies the family’s wealth: the cultivation thereof being imperative. The family’s wealth derives from its primary assets consisting of Human, Intellectual, and Financial Capital. To grow the family’s wealth requires good governance which means a shared culture constituting a dynamic process of group/business activity which must be shared and continually re-affirmed horizontally (intra-generational) and vertically (inter-generational) among and between all the members. Good planning and analysis is the key, good drafting and transactional work is the implementation, and good follow-up is the compliance.
Beyond my practice expertise, I network an extensive array of attorneys and firms in New York and Florida. When one of my clients require an attorney in a field outside my expertise, I go the distance to help identify the attorney(s) I personally believe will best serve my client’s needs and interests; I follow up throughout the engagement to ensure that trust.
I am also a Member of the Board of Trustees, and the Secretary of the Board of Goliard Concerts, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Astoria with a primary purpose of providing live performances of chamber music; supporting and encouraging professional musicians; and the involvement of musicians in the business and administration of the organization.
