He successfully sued the Sheriff’s Office for placing non-security video cameras in non-public areas of the Madison Street Jail that continuously broadcast images over the Internet. The images were of inmates as they were searched, fingerprinted, booked, slept and even as they used the bathroom.

How he did it: Mr. Ferragut successfully obtained a Preliminary Injunction against the Sheriff’s Office in Federal District Court. The Sheriff’s Office filed an appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and ultimately the United States Supreme Court challenging the Federal District Court’s order to take down the cameras. Mr. Ferragut and his legal team successfully defeated the Sheriff’s Office at both the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court and the cameras were permanently removed.
