Coastal living allows Charles to enjoy sailing Nova Scotia’s scenic coastline, both recreationally and competitively, as well as participating in numerous outdoor and sporting activities. His varied experience in business law has been of benefit to commercial clients in the acquisition and sale of businesses, commercial properties, as well as corporate financings. During this time Charles has remained focused on developing a practice in the increasingly important area of intellectual property. He has represented clients on various matters including intellectual property protection, registration, licensing and sale. Charles is a registered trade-mark agent in Canada. Stemming from his enjoyment of travel and world issues, Charles also has a keen interest in immigration law and has varied experience in this area. He has helped numerous individuals in achieving their goals to work, study or live in Canada. Active in the community, Charles is a director and the treasurer of Bionova, the Nova Scotia Life Sciences and Biotechnology Industry Association, and is the chair of the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia) intellectual property sub-section. He is also active with Junior Achievement Nova Scotia, the Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association, Dalhousie Law School, and serves on the council and several committees for the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia). As a person who enjoys sharing his knowledge, Charles has made presentations and authored papers on a variety of topics in the area of intellectual property and corporate law to different professional groups and associations.
