Michael M. Amir is the co-founder of Doll Amir & Eley LLP. Mr. Amir practices in the areas of general business litigation including intellectual property and entertainment matters. He represents a variety of clients, from large national corporations and medium-sized companies to individuals. Michael Amir has successfully defended and prosecuted numerous matters including trademark, copyright, right of publicity, trade secrets, fraud, breach of contract, unfair competition, licensing and embezzlement matters. He also has unique experience representing charter schools in court and in administrative proceedings at the district, county and state levels. In 2005, the first year he was eligible, Michael Amir received the distinction of being named one of Southern California’s “Rising Stars” by Los Angeles Magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers. Those publications named him a “Rising Star” in 2006, 2007 and 2008 as well. In March 2006, he was featured in an exclusive interview on the Forbes Radio program “America’s Best Lawyers” to discuss intellectual property rights in the workplace. Mr. Amir has published numerous articles in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. In 2008, he was a panelist at the Loyola Law School Entertainment & Sports Law Society’s symposium regarding copyright issues. Later in the year, he was a panelist at the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Corporate Law Annual Seminar in Rancho Mirage. Michael Amir has successfully defended clients in all phases of litigation including the pleading stage, on summary judgment and at trial. The following reflects Michael Amir's notable representations: Obtained a defense verdict in a federal trial on behalf of a former NBA star in a breach of contract and fraud case. Obtained a complete defense decision in a state court trial on behalf of a major university in a case involving claims of discrimination and breach of contract. Defeated a request for a preliminary injunction in a highly-publicized copyright action.. Obtained a dismissal of an intellectual property dispute at the pleading stage in a case where Plaintiffs sought damages in excess of $100 million. Successfully defended a trademark action for a major record label. Obtained a complete defense verdict in a five week jury trial where the Plaintiffs sought millions alleging fraud and breach of contract in connection with a real property dispute. Defeated a request for a preliminary injunction in a case alleging misappropriation of trade secrets and trademark infringement. Prior to co-founding Doll Amir & Eley LLP, Michael Amir practiced law at the Los Angeles office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP and the Los Angeles office of O’Brien Zarian LLP (now Arent Fox). Mr. Amir served as an extern for Justice Arthur Gilbert, California Court of Appeal (2d District) and for the United States District Judge Susan Illston (N.D. Cal.). He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was a Member and Executive Project Manager of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of California and a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (Los Angeles Chapter).
