Dr. Robert A. Herbert is a board certified anesthesiologist who practiced medicine for fourteen years before attending law and business school. He believes that he has found the best of all worlds, using his accumulated knowledge and experience in medicine by practicing healthcare law. Dr. Herbert is originally from New York where he graduated from Columbia College in 1976 and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons Medical School in 1980. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas in 1981. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut in 1984. Dr. Herbert was board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in May of 1986. He began his private practice in Manchester, Connecticut, and then spent a year as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1987. He returned to private anesthesiology practice in Newton, New Jersey until 1994. After moving to California, Dr. Herbert was on staff as an anesthesiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. Dr. Herbert attended the combined law/business school program at Santa Clara University. Dr. Herbert's law school awards and recognition include the American Jurisprudence Award, Best Oral Advocate in Moot Court Competition, CALI Excellent for the Future Award, and the Dean's List. Dr. Herbert was admitted to the California Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in December of 1999. He joined Sheuerman, Martini & Tabari in early 2001. Dr. Herbert keeps his California medical license current; he received the AMA's Physician Recognition Award in Continue Medical Education in 2001. After leaving the formal practice of medicine, Dr. Herbert provided pro bono medical care for indigent people in Baja, Mexico. Dr. Herbert has been published in Anesthesiology , the most widely read anesthesiology journal in the world.
