Sheila Hathaway, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1955. She graduated with distinction from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Nursing, in 1977. Before commencing her law career, Sheila spent 25 years, primarily as a hospital nurse and nurse manager in high risk obstetrical settings in Virginia, South Carolina and the Bay Area. Sheila was one of two Bay Area high risk OB home care nurses with the TOKO's corporation. She maintains an active RN license as well. In 2003, she earned her J.D. from JFKU, School of Law and was admitted to the bar, in January of 2004. She has worked in the medical malpractice field since that time. Sheila joined SMT as an associate in 2007. She has a particular interest in birth injury cases and her expertise in obstetrical nursing including interpretations of electronic fetal monitoring patterns, is a major asset to the firm in defending cases of perinatal birth injury. She is a member and the current President of the Northern California chapter of TAANA (The American Association of Nurse Attorneys).
