Benjamin Older

Since 2003, Benjamin has practiced exclusively in the area of marital and family law. While Ben has spent thousands of hours in the courtroom, his experience has taught him that litigation is not always necessary. He has therefore dedicated a portion of his practice to the cutting edge area of Collaborative Divorce. Benjamin is known for his ability to help clients attempt first to reach a private and amicable resolution of their family law matters, before their cases escalate into costly and emotionally damaging litigation. Even still, he recognizes that some cases require all of the resources, experience, and tenacity that he and the firm offer in a contentious litigation and he attacks those cases with relentless hard work and attention to detail. Benjamin’s approach to the delicate issues that arise in his practice is to remain empathetic and understanding toward each individual client, and to never lose sight of his oath to zealously represent his clients’ best interests.

Benjamin completed a three-year term on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, Section 13F, and served as Chairman for two of those years. He is member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association as well as the Hillsborough County Family Law Section. He has served as the Community Outreach Chair on the Family Law Executive Counsel. He has served on the Hillsborough County Family Law Bench Bar Committee, and has served as an elected member of the Hillsborough County Family Law Executive Counsel. He was one of the first lawyers in the Tampa Bay area to be trained in Collaborative Divorce. Benjamin has authored and co-authored numerous articles featured in Lawyer Magazine.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Benjamin is also an active Member of the Tampa community. His charitable interests include past service on the Board of Directors of the Child Abuse Counsel (now Champions For Children), as well past service on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Connection Foundation. Benjamin also served for five years on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Addiction of Drug Dependence. He also donates his time for charity by performing music for local events and various causes. Benjamin has been featured in Tampa Bay Illustrated Magazine, Cultural Affairs Magazine, and SOHO Magazine for his philanthropic and professional endeavors and has been invited to speak on numerous panels related to his law practice and his charitable activities. Benjamin has appeared numerous times on network news broadcasts to commentate on issues related to his field. Benjamin was recognized in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 as a “Super Lawyer.” On AVVO, Benjamin has a perfect 10 rating as well as virtually all perfect 5 star client reviews and is a recipient of the client’s choice award.

Benjamin graduated from the University of Southern California in 1993 and after a few years of world travel, attended and then graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 1999. He is admitted to practice in Florida. He speaks Spanish fluently. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and playing music both professionally and for charitable pursuits.
