You must plan for your future and your loved ones!
If you fail to prepare your own estate plan, the state has an estate plan for you. This will probably not be the plan that you want. Make sure your assets pass to the people or charities that you desire, not as designated by the state! Don't allow all of your property to pass to a child at age 18, or to a child that has "issues" or an in-law that will seize control. Don't allow your estate to become a public record and avoid a conservatorship proceeding or other court process in your aged years.
Barry A. Yoch is a senior partner of Case Knowlson & Jordan LLP and has been an estate planning, probate and trust lawyer for 31 years. He became a certified specialist in these areas in 1998 pursuant to an examination administered by the State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and recommendations by fellow attorneys. Mr. Yoch represents clients in both large and small estates and trusts and seeks to reduce or eliminate estate taxes and transfer costs by utilizing the most recently accepted estate and trust strategies. He also appears frequently in various probate courts throughout southern California when necessary to diligently represent his clients. Mr. Yoch also represents small business and corporate clients and handles real estate matters and tax controversies.
Barry Yoch was voted a “Super Lawyer” by his peers in 2004 as reported in Los Angeles Magazine in a poll conducted by the magazine and Law & Politics magazine. Mr. Yoch was a founding partner of the Firm and is “av” rated by Martindale Hubbell Peer Review Ratings.
