Len Walker Law

Before I became a lawyer, I spent a total of eight years in the United States Submarine Service, six years active, and two years active reserves. I was a navigation systems analyst and spent a whole lot of time under the waves, or “punching holes”. Following the Navy, I worked in Washington D.C. for a company that rewrote and updated the Submarine Quality Assurance Program. I am proud of the fact that I worked myself through college and law school. I had a great deal of help from my wife along the way. We’ve been together over 25 years.

My philosophy of practice is fairly simple. I am a trial lawyer that helps people get through and solve very complicated problems. Before I take any case, I have to possess a reasonable belief that I can accomplish what you want and need done. Taking on cases for any other reason just doesn’t make any sense to me. Now, that doesn’t mean that I can guarantee a result I believe in. If I could do that, I would just move to Vegas, set my predictions, and then make a whole lot of money.

My practice is fairly narrow, because I think we have long passed the time when a lawyer can be in “general practice”. The law has become far too complicated. As such, I limit my practice now to Criminal and Family matters. I will take an occasional personal injury case, but rarely. In the 1990’s, I handled a variety of federal civil rights cases involving excessive force by the police, actual fundamental or “bill of rights” cases, and employment issues. The last civil rights case I had was completed in 2014 in a class action suit against a New Mexico municipal court. That one case will end up helping hundreds of people, but I do not seek those cases.

My Bar Admissions progressed from New Mexico in 1993, then United States District Court (federal) in 1994, and then the State of Texas in 1995. I have done numerous trials in every one of those venues and do not back away from a fight. It’s important that you know that, but what’s more important is that I know when a client needs to go all the way through trial. The good news is that most of my cases are dismissed, end in something less than a conviction, or result in a way that satisfies my clients.
