TIMOTHY J. SCANLAN received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He earned his J.D. from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, where he served as a Staff Member on The Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. He received his LL.M. in Taxation from the Boston University School of Law. Tim’s practice concentrates on estate planning and the administration of trusts and estates. He has a depth of experience in developing and implementing estate plans of varying complexity, including sophisticated planning for high net worth families, entrepreneurs, and individuals with special needs. Tim utilizes his knowledge of both traditional and cutting edge planning techniques to guide affluent clients in transferring their wealth to future generations while mitigating the impact of income, estate, gift and generation skipping transfer taxes. He also assists clients with their philanthropic endeavors, and is experienced in establishing tax-exempt entities, such as public charities, private foundations and charitable trusts, in order to best achieve each client’s charitable goals. Tim counsels fiduciaries and beneficiaries throughout the estate and trust administration process and is skilled in preparing and filing the necessary probate documents and estate and gift tax returns. Tim is a member of the Massachusetts and District of Columbia Bars, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Estate Planning Council and The Norfolk and Plymouth Estate and Business Planning Council.
