Russel Murray III, Esq., Russel Murray III, P.C. The family law practice of Russel Murray III, P.C. emphasizes Interstate and International Child Custody matters and Child Abductions, in cases involving the Hague Convention and the International Child Abduction Remedies Act (ICARA), Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act (PKPA); Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act (UCCJEA); Uniform Child Abduction Prevention Act (UCAPA); and all means and modes of Colorado Family Law and Domestic Relations Litigation. Mr. Murray is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association (2001-2002). He twice co-chaired the Family Law Institute (2001, 1994), and has spoken locally, nationally, and internationally at more than sixty CLEs on topics of Interstate and International Child Custody, Colorado Family Law and Domestic Relations Litigation, CFIs, Special Advocates, and Family Law Ethics. Russel is a twenty-three year member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee and created and chaired the CBA Family Law Section Ethics Committee (1993-2003). Additionally, he is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Family Law Section (Child Custody Committee; Ethical Practice and Procedures Committee; International Law Committee); the ABA International Law Section (Family Law Committee); the ABA Center For Professional Responsibility; the International Society of Family Law; the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL); the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar; the International Society of Family Law; and the Adams/Broomfield, Arapahoe, and Douglas County Bar Associations. From 2003-2015 he was a member of the Minoru Yasui Inn of Court, a member of the American Inns of Court. For eighteen consecutive years he has been listed as an AV lawyer in Martindale-Hubbell and as an International Family Law attorney in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Mr. Murray serves as a referral attorney for the U.S. State Department Hague Convention Attorney Network and regularly presents on issues concerning The Hague Convention and related federal and state laws. He authored “Interstate Custody in the New Millennium (American Journal of Family Law, Fall, 1999)” and is presently chairing a 2016 joint ABA conference on Hague Convention issues which will feature speakers from each of the seven continents, including attorneys, judges, governmental and political leaders and leading technology proponents to raise awareness of potential interstate and international trial enhancements. Russel maintains a significant interest in the Ethics of Interstate and International Child Custody and Child Abduction cases and is working on an extensive article regarding the same. Named by Lawyers Weekly USA as one of its ten lawyers of the year for 2001 for his seminal work in federal court on a Hague Convention case, Murray has also been featured in USA Today, the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, KMGH Channel 7 (Denver), and in various specialty publications such as FCW and Civic.com.
