Terrence (Terry) has been with Turner Freeman Lawyers since June 1986, having started as a solicitor, then becoming a Partner in May 1995. As a renowned and highly respected individual within the legal community, he has been practicing for over 20 years, with his expertise lying within Civil Litigation.
Terry is an exceptionally experienced lawyer, with a wide breadth of knowledge and technical ability. His many years of experience mean he is able to assess his client’s needs and handle complicated situations quickly and efficiently. He specialises in cases which require a vast amount of knowledge due to their complicated and technical nature.
He specialises and practices commercial litigation, wills and estate litigation, general personal injury law, defamation law and aircraft accident claims. He also provides clients with specialist advice regarding death benefit claims and superannuation. He also provides advice for registered clubs.
Terry has a wide range of experience in Estate Litigation, which allows him to meet his client’s needs and assist them through what is typically a very challenging and difficult time in their lives. The support and dedication he brings to every single one of his clients is greatly appreciated, as is his ability to explain the complex litigation process in a way which is simple and easy to understand.
Other areas of law in which Terry has regularly acted include common law claims, public liability claims, workers compensation claims, equity cases, professional negligence claims, catastrophic injury claims including quadriplegia, brain damage and paraplegia claims, medical negligence claims and recovery of money by liquidators and bankruptcy trustees.
Accomplishments
Terry has a wide breadth of knowledge and experience, which has allowed him to be involved in many ground breaking cases, including Beckett v. State of New South Wales, Petty and Maiden v. The Queen in the High Court, Hans Unger v. Qantas Airways Ltd and Fleming v. Marshall.
He is proud to have won the biggest negligence compensation settlement in Australia, one of his most impressive achievements to date.
Terry has also acted in the Australian courts, and in Courts in the United States of America, in claims for injured airline passengers. This has included cases in the State Court of Cook County Illinois. This is a centre which specializes in airline accident litigation arising out of crashes around the world.
