Philip E. Jacobowitz was born and raised in New York City.
Phil has dedicated his career exclusively to family law practice since 1971. In 1983, he founded Jacobowitz, Defino, Latimer, Fradkin, Comer & O'Toole, P.C.; now Jacobowitz & Defino, P.C., a firm focused on all aspects of family law practice.
Prior to establishing a successful law firm, Phil served for three years as a law intern with Smith & Steibel in NYC, where he represented the British Counsel General. He worked for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, D.C. for three years, handling complex communications litigation. Phil also served as general litigator with Kohn, Kirsch & Needle in Newark, NJ and for 12 years as a founding partner in the firm of Barrett, Jacobowitz & Bass in Ocean, NJ.
Phil’s service to his community includes eight years as an elected member of the West Long Branch Board of Education, adjunct professor of Constitutional Law at Brookdale Community College and instructor for the Monmouth Bar Association. Phil has been named as Top Attorney in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly Magazine and a New Jersey Super Lawyer, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication to high ethical standards.
Phil and his wife Jean Schick-Jacobowitz make their home in West Long Branch, NJ and have six children and five grandchildren.
