Robert Buchanan

Robert has garnered high praise from colleagues and clients alike as he has fought for those he represents. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he received his undergraduate degree from the prestigious University of California, Berkeley. In 2012, after accepting a scholarship, Robert graduated with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

 

While working towards his degree, Robert interned at Kent’s Criminal Defense Clinic, where he provided important support to attorneys representing clients in cases ranging from retail theft to first degree murder. Understanding the unique opportunity given by the practice of criminal law, Robert spent the next years in court honing his trial skills while also developing important relationships with judges and opposing counsel.

 

Prior to co-founding Johnsen & Buchanan, LLC, Robert practiced under the mentorship of seasoned criminal defense and family law practitioners. As an associate, Robert made more than 500 appearances in court, including both jury and bench trials. Whether it be opening a case before a panel of twelve jurors, cross-examining police officers, or negotiating with Assistant State’s Attorneys, Robert is an aggressive advocate for the interests of his clients, in or out of court.

 

Skills sharpened by his extensive in-court experience, Robert has advocated for individuals in a wide variety of matters including divorce, foreclosure, personal injury, and criminal defense.
