A Summerville, South Carolina native, Carolyn Bone has long been an advocate for children and families and has pursued a career path that includes compassionate service. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2008. Prior to law school, Ms. Bone graduated 
summa cum laude from Converse College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in English and Psychology.
 

While in law school, Ms. Bone served as President of the Women in Law group and Business Editor of the nationally-distributed Journal of Law and Education. She was also appointed to serve on the school's Pro Bono Board and volunteered to represent youthful offenders through the school's Juvenile Justice Clinic.

Ms. Bone clerked for the Columbia, South Carolina firm of Taylor/Potterfield and was awarded a Barton Clinic Child Law grant by Emory University. This grant allowed Ms. Bone to serve as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark H. Murphy of the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court, Haralson County, Georgia in 2007. She was awarded the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (South Carolina chapter) Harvey L. Golden Award for Special Interest in Family Law as well as the University of South Carolina School of Law's Susan McCrary scholarship award that same year. 

Before opening Carolyn M. Bone, LLC (formerly McNair Family Law) in 2014, Ms. Bone was an associate with the Columbia, South Carolina based Parise Law Firm, where her practice focused entirely on family law issues. She also served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem with Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), representing the interests of abused and neglected children in S.C. Department of Social Services proceedings from 2006-2011. 


A former Dorchester School District II English teacher, Ms. Bone continues to represent the interests of South Carolina's children as a member of the Children's Law and Education Law Committees of the South Carolina Bar. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for private, contested custody cases. She focuses her practice solely in the area of Family Law and Domestic Relations in the Family Courts of South Carolina. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar as well as the Charleston County and Dorchester County Bar Associations.
