The Law Offices of Daniel R. Collins
As an Attorney with 15 years defending people charged with crimes, I have conducted over 100 jury trials, examined witnesses, challenged experts, argued motions, and zealously represented my clients.
As an experienced trial lawyer I have experience in all aspects of a trial. I pick juries by asking the potential jurors questions so that we, my client and I, feel that this juror will give us a fair trial. I also have considerable experience in the field of forensic evidence and experts both for my client’s benefit and to successfully challenge theories offered by the State. I have used the Illinois Rules of Evidence to both prevent and admit evidence beneficial to my clients. I use the experience from every one of my past trials to achieve the best results for my clients.
In some cases my clients choose to have their case tried solely by a Judge without a jury. This is called a bench trial and I have conducted hundreds of bench trials with outstanding results.
I've successfully tried countless felony and misdemeanor cases. I listen to and learn from my clients. Some clients accept responsibility for their actions, but want the Court to know why it happened, and more importantly, that it won’t happen again. Some clients need a zealous advocate to champion their innocence and present their case to the jury.
That’s the key to my success. There are two primary aspects to a criminal case, the determination of guilt or innocence. Even where there is a determination of guilt, advocating for a reasonable disposition is critical. I have considerable experience and success achieving compassionate reasonable resolutions for my clients.
