Attorney Marta V. Canossa, completed high school in Costa Rica her native country and continued her undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States. In May of 2002 she graduated from Spring Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She concentrated her studies in computer information systems and political sciences.
In May of 2005, she obtained her Common Law Juris Doctorate with a Certificate in International Legal Studies and a Certificate in Civil Law from Loyola University New Orleans. During her studies she was the recipient of several scholarships that funded most of her education. She is now an active member of the Mississippi State Bar, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
While completing her years of higher education in the Jesuit tradition, she was compelled to strive for social justice and to make a difference in the world. Since her first year in law school, she felt passionate about immigrants in the United States and their need. She served as a student attorney representing immigrant detainees.
She is a close friend of several non-profit organizations and dedicates substantial time of pro bono work to serve the immigrant Community. She also takes a generous load of Immigration Court cases on a pro bono basis for immigrants in need.
Since the year 2006 she has worked hard to build a reputable private practice in the area of immigration law. Her firm has represented hundreds of clients before the United States Immigration Service and Immigration Court.
