There is no Statutory Right to Trial Continuance in a Civil Harrassment action under CCP 527.6
A friend sought Civil Harrassment TRO against another friend. Respondent showed to trial with an attorney and the attorney sought a trial continuance under Section 527.6 of the Cal. Code Civ. Proc. The court denied continuance, but allowed attorney a short time to prepare. After the court issued TRO against respondent, respondent appealed. Held: Section 527.6 does not provide a 'right' to continuance. Respondent was allowed a fair hearing as her counsel was allowed to cross-examine the petitioner. [www.metnews.com]
